Cameron Lee Atkins, age 54 of Sullivan, IN and formerly of Lawrence County, passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2024, in Sullivan, IN. He was born May 16, 1969, in Vincennes, IN to Jackie Lee Atkins and Jeri Lee (Fiscus).

Cameron had a heart of gold, would give you the shirt off his back to help you, and many knew his easy, ornery smile. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating, and horseback riding. His family was a true joy to him. He loved spending time with them. He also loved the art of deal making and loved “getting a good deal”.

He was a hard worker. He had worked at Marathon and completed firefighter training while there. He retired from Marathon after 28 years, but he continued working. He had recently been at NIPSCO Power Plant of Terre Haute, IN and had Atkins Drywalling. He enjoyed construction and renovating. Cameron had also gone to farrier training and had shod for many locally. Cameron was also a member of the Elks.

Surviving family includes: his three children- Christina Sorrell and husband Sam of Bridgeport, Loran Atkins of Bridgeport, and Chance Atkins and Drew of Sumner: his long-time partner- Jacque Pentell of Sullivan, IN: one brother- Brett Atkins of Lawrenceville: six grandchildren- Bryan Gerber of Sumner, Morgan Gerber of Bridgeport, Dawson Wells of Bridgeport, Katarina Sorrell of Bridgeport, Jase Atkins of Sumner, and Tristan Atkins of Sumner: one great-grandchild- Kale Gerber of Sumner: Jacque’s children that he loved as his own- Nick Pentell and his wife Tara and their three children, Aria, Lincoln, and Harrison and Annie Pentell and daughter, Madelynn: an aunt- Judy Atkins: a cousin- Tarita Siler: an uncle- Dickie Fiscus: one nephew- Brantley Atkins: and child of his heart- Kyle Forsythe.

He was preceded in death by: his parents- Jackie and Jeri: maternal grandparents- Dick and Betty Fiscus: paternal grandparents- Wilbur and Anna Atkins: and an uncle- Jerry Atkins.

A celebration of Cameron Atkin’s life will take place at The Port in Bridgeport on Saturday, April 20, 2024, from 12:00 pm until 6:00 pm. Cunningham Funeral Home of Bridgeport is assisting his family.
