The Bi-State Authority, which governs the Mid-American Air Center located northeast of Lawrenceville, met Tuesday evening for the first time since hosting the 2 day “Dancing in the Dark” event celebrating the solar eclipse this past Sunday and Monday. Airport manager Kurt Schwartz told WAKO News that they had people fly-in from such locations as California, New York, New Jersey and Florida. There were also visitors by car from multiple states who took advantage of the clear viewing from all parts of the airport facility. Schwartz said that the visitors were complimentary of the welcome they received and impressed with the air-center and the Lawrence-Knox County area in general. The Bi-State did discuss the need to reduce electrical costs by perhaps looking at renewable energy sources in the future. There was additional discussion on a sewage plant operator contract and the authority did approve a committee report on revisions to the airport personnel policies.
